Campus Crest Communities Announces Eighth Annual "Gobbler Giveaway"
- Company recruits three other businesses to provide more than 1,900 turkeys to families in need -
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Campus Crest Communities, Inc. (NYS: CCG) , a leading developer, builder, owner and manager of high-quality, resident life focused student housing, today announced that it has recruited Fortegra Financial Corporation (NYS: FRF) , Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Brandywine Realty Trust (NYS: BDN) to participate in its eighth annual "Gobbler Giveaway" event. Together, the companies will partner with 13 different charities and faith-based organizations to provide more than 1,900 turkeys to families in need this holiday season.
The annual event began shortly after Campus Crest's inception in 2004 and is an integral part of the company's broad corporate social responsibility program. Over the past seven years, Campus Crest has steadily ramped up its efforts to grow the initiative, resulting in the donation of approximately 4,000 turkeys to residents in communities where the company owns and operates student housing properties. This is the first year Campus Crest has enlisted the help of other businesses to grow the initiative and replicate the event in their respective communities.
This year, Campus Crest will donate a total of 675 turkeys. The company's first "Gobbler Giveaway" event of the year took place on Friday, November 16th at Kingdom Fellowship Christian Center located in Charlotte, NC. Campus Crest will host four additional events at the following locations:
11/20 -New Bethel Church of God in Christ

11/21 -Westside Full Gospel Baptist Church
10:00am at 719 Aycock St., Carrollton, GA 30117
11/21 -Flagg Chapel Baptist Church
1:30pm at 400 W. Franklin St., Milledgeville, GA 31061
11/21 -Fellowship Christian Center
5:00pm at 136 Pee Dee Church Rd., Dillon, SC 29536
Ted Rollins, co-founder and chief executive officer of Campus Crest, and Mike Hartnett, co-founder and chief investment officer of Campus Crest, commented, "As we continue to grow, our focus remains on implementing new and existing initiatives that allow us to give back to the residents that have welcomed us into their communities. Rollins will be accompanied by staff to give away turkeys at Flagg Chapel Baptist Church in Milledgeville, GA, the Fellowship Christian Center in Dillon, SC and Westside Full Gospel Baptist Church in Carrollton, GA. Hartnett along with staff was present at the Kingdom Fellowship Christian Center in Charlotte, NC to distribute turkeys.
Four hundred turkeys will be donated to Philabundance, the Delaware Valley's largest hunger relief organization providing emergency food and access to services to approximately 900,000 people at risk of hunger and malnutrition.
