Accenture Recognized in Leading Industry Analyst Firm's Report on Mobile Ticketing and Open Fare Management Systems

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Accenture (NYS: ACN) is listed as a "vendor to watch" based on evaluation of its transportation industry expertise and a focus on mobility in the recently published Gartner Market Trends: Mobile Ticketing for Public Transportation, Worldwide, 2012[1].

The new report assesses the deployment of mobile ticketing and the migration to open fare systems, two important trends in public transportation. It examines the opportunities for traditional and nontraditional transport technology providers that are being generated by these trends.

"Accenture is an industry pioneer, with extensive experience of e-ticketing and mobility solutions as well as insight into device suppliers, which allows us to design solutions for both open payments and open architectures," said Patrice Massat, global lead for Accenture's Infrastructure and Transportation industry group.

The move toward both mobile and open fare management is examined by the report, as well as the scale of adoption of mobile ticketing. It examines technology trends and outlines the areas where mobile ticketing can deliver value in the public transportation industry.

"We are pleased to be recognized by Gartner as we work with our clients to identify their issues using a strategic research-based approach backed up by strong technical delivery capabilities that drive better business outcomes, said Michael J. Wilson, Head of Accenture's Public Transportation practice in North America. "Accenture's public transportation expertise, combined with experience in implementing large mobility projects involving significant back-end integration and large-scale deployment - were drivers for our inclusion in the report."
