Harris Corporation Recognized for Commitment to Community by Bloomberg, National Conference on Citizenship and Points of Light

MELBOURNE, Fla. & WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Harris Corporation (NYS: HRS) has been recognized as one of America's most community-minded companies in The Civic 50 - the first scientific evaluation to rank the companies that best use their time, talent, and resources to improve the quality of life where they do business.

The survey was conducted by the National Conference on Citizenship (NCoC) and Points of Light and published in the November 9 issue of Bloomberg Businessweek. Harris was evaluated in several areas, including leadership, employee engagement in the community, community partnerships, cause alignment and transparency.

"A commitment to civic responsibility is an integral and sustaining part of the Harris culture," said William Brown, president and chief executive officer, Harris Corporation. "We focus our resources on programs and organizations that enrich the communities where we have operations, are relevant to the missions of our business and advance the education of young people who will lead our workforce in the years to come."

"The results of The Civic 50 show that what is good for business can also be good for the community," said Michael Weiser, chairman of NCoC, and Jackie Norris, executive director of Points of Light Corporate Institute, in a joint statement. "Rather than passively write checks to charities or philanthropies, the top corporations are actively aligning their resources and professional skills with the needs of community partners. The Civic 50 reveals which companies are truly innovative, and we are hopeful that these examples will inspire other companies to make a difference in communities."
