WEXFORD, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ronald H. Muhlenkamp, President of Muhlenkamp & Company, Inc. and Portfolio Manager of the Muhlenkamp Fund, will host a free investment seminar on Thursday, December 6, at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Township. Mr. Muhlenkamp will present "The Market Drivers—U.S., Europe, and China: An Update."

Two sessions are planned. The afternoon event begins at 2:00 p.m. and the evening event begins at 7:00 p.m. Doors open one half-hour in advance; light refreshments will be served. As part of his U.S.-based discussion, Mr. Muhlenkamp will speak to why the U.S. elections mattered and where investors are likely to find values in the coming years. He will also address what happens if Congress fails to respond to the fiscal cliff, specifically what it means for wage earners and retirees on a personal level. "Understanding the potential impact is critical. Consumers, business owners, and investors all focus on after-tax dollars; after all, it's the only money you can spend or invest," said Mr. Muhlenkamp.

At the seminar, Mr. Muhlenkamp will also discuss the effects of the European Union's Outright Monetary Transactions program. "Containment of the European debt crisis affects the well-being of U.S.-based international banks," he said. "In fact, we think some financial institutions are poised to benefit in terms of increased market share. Further, it may mean that capital that fled Europe for the 'safety' of U.S. Treasuries reverses, allowing Treasury yields to rise a bit," he continued.

Regarding China's economic slowdown, Mr. Muhlenkamp observes, "It coincides with a shift in policy. Rather than placing efforts on building infrastructure, Chinese officials are attempting to 'build' consumers. This change in economic policy can have a significant impact on stock selection."
