ITG Chooses Alvarion® as the Main Provider of Broadband Data Connectivity in Namibia, Angola and Zambia

Alvarion's solution will deliver reliable, high speed data to business and corporate customers in all three capital cities

Deployment valued at approximately $2 million

CAPE TOWN, South Africa--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Alvarion®Ltd. (NAS: ALVR) , a global provider of optimized wireless broadband solutions addressing the connectivity, coverage and capacity challenges of public and private networks, announced today that Internet Technologies Group (ITG) of Africa has chosen Alvarion to provide the wireless broadband connectivity for three of its subsidiary groups; ITA (Internet Technologies Angola), ITN (Internet Technologies Namibia), ITZ (Internet Technologies Zambia). The three projects combined are valued at approximately $2 million.

With a significant presence throughout Africa, delivering a variety of products and services across 14 African countries, ITG's mission is to provide state-of-the-art solutions to their business and corporate customers whose demand for data connectivity has increased rapidly. Alvarion helped ITG tailor a wireless broadband solution to match the needs of its local customers in Angola, Namibia and Zambia.

"Working with Alvarion on these three projects, we see their strength and professionalism coming from many years of field experience in Africa," said Barney Harmse, CEO of the ITG Group. "Within a short time frame, we were able to install a complete network covering the entire capital of Namibia and we are looking forward to the Angola and Zambia projects that will be sure to follow with the same attention to service and high commitment level."

ITA, Internet Technologies Angola, is migrating the current network from FDD to TDD technology. Alvarion's 4Motion solution in the 3.5 GHz frequency has been selected as the technology of choice to upgrade this network to an 802.16e network that is TD-LTE ready. This solution will be installed around the capital city Luanda, as well as in Lobito, Benguela and Lubango, and will provide reliable Internet connectivity to SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) and business customers.

ITN, Internet Technologies Namibia, deployed Alvarion's 4Motion® solution in the 2.5 GHz frequency covering the entire capital city of Windhoek, Oshakati, and Walvis Bay, Namibia's largest commercial port city, with high speed Internet and data services. ITN disassembled an older version of an 802.16d network and upgraded the entire network with updated technology, Alvarion's 4Motion 802.16e solution.

ITZ, Internet Technologies Zambia, will deploy Alvarion's BreezeCOMPACT solution in the 3.5 GHz frequency. This state-of-the-art solution will deliver data and Internet services to business and residents in the capital city Lusaka as well as in the second and third largest cities in Zambia, Ndola and Kitwe. With LTE Advanced ready technology, the BreezeCOMPACT will be able to serve the growing bandwidth needs of Lusaka's business and industry.

"As Africa's leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, we are pleased to be able to deliver all solutions for ITG's three major projects across Africa," stated Hezi Lapid, President and CEO of Alvarion. "Alvarion's multi-technology portfolio will provide each city with the appropriate technological elements to fit the growth and profitability requirements of its business and people."
