U.S. Department of Energy Extends Contract for Idaho Cleanup Project

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- URS Corporation (NYS: URS) today announced that the U.S. Department of Energy has extended its Idaho Cleanup Project contract with CH2M-WG Idaho, LLC ("CWI") for an additional three years to September 2015. CWI is a partnership between CH2M-Hill and URS that directs the Idaho Cleanup Project at the Department of Energy's Idaho Site.

The Idaho Cleanup Project, funded through the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Environmental Management, focuses on early risk reduction and protection of the Snake River Plain Aquifer. Under the terms of the three-year, $730 million contract extension, CWI will treat and dispose of radioactive waste, retrieve and dispose of buried waste, manage spent nuclear fuel, dispose of nuclear materials, conduct environmental remediation activities and treat and process sodium-bearing waste. The original project contract was awarded to CWI in March 2005.

Robert Zaist, President of Energy & Construction for URS, said, "The Idaho Cleanup Project, one of the largest nuclear site cleanup projects in history, focuses on reducing risks to workers, the public and the environment, and on protecting the Snake River Plain Aquifer, the sole drinking water source for more than 300,000 residents of eastern Idaho. Our work to date on this environmental cleanup mission has been completed ahead of schedule and under budget, and we are looking forward to building on this momentum over the next three years."
