Spanish Market Leader Mundo Reader/bq Launches New E-reader Powered by Neonode®MultiSensing™ Touch Technology

Neonode's Front-Line Technology Providing Advanced User Experience on Big-Seller Cervantes Touch from Mundo Reader/bq

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Neonode Inc., (NAS: NEON) , the optical touch technology company announced today that the new e-reader "Cervantes Touch" by Mundo Reader/bq, has been launched, incorporating Neonode's patented MultiSensingTM touch technology. The Cervantes Touch is a result of the multi-year license agreement Neonode signed with Mundo Reader in 2011, as stated in a press release issued August 25 2011.

The Cervantes Touch is the evolution of the Cervantes 2, one of the top-selling e-reader brands in Spain and Latin America. Thanks to Neonode's light based MultiSensingTM technology the Cervantes Touch is super-responsive, with extremely low power consumption and long battery life. It also facilitates a totally reflection-free Electronic Paper Display (EPD) providing a pristine and superior reading experience. These features, characteristic for Neonode touch enabled devices have made Neonode's technology the premier choice of technology for most of the world's major e-reader manufacturers.

"Mundo Reader/bq is a great partner for Neonode thanks to their attention to quality, much evidenced by the classy Cervantes Touch designed specifically for the Spanish speaking markets. The launch of the Cervantes Touch verifies Neonode's competitive edge and great demand for our proprietary technology on multiple worldwide markets. We are excited about the opportunity to cooperate with Mundo Reader/bq on several more devices to come" said Thomas Eriksson, Neonode's CEO.

Spanish is the first language for 650 million people worldwide, including a significant number of Spanish speakers in the US. Sales of e-books in the Spanish language, where most of Latin America is served by Spanish publishing enterprises, are expected to grow and to have a major impact for both publishers and retailers the coming years, reaching a world market share of around 15 percent in 2015, according to the 2011 O'Reilly report "The Global eBook Market: Current Conditions & Future Projections". IDC has also forecasted, in "Worldwide and U.S. eReader 2011-2015 Forecast Update", that the Spanish-speaking e-reader market will have a similar development as the North American market has had the last 5 years.
