Pepco Holdings Captures First Place for Best Overall Campaignat the 2012 E Source Utility Ad Awards Contest

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) earned top honors at the recent 25th Annual E Source Forum in Denver, Colo., where E Source announced the winners of the 2012 Utility Ad Awards Contest. PHI won first place for Best Overall Campaign and second place for Best Television Ad.

The winning entries were components of an integrated customer communications campaign for Pepco, an electric utility subsidiary of PHI. The overall campaign and the ad both aimed to educate customers on efforts to enhance reliability - a key topic customers indicated they wanted to know more about in research conducted in the fall of 2011.

An independent group of judges selected the winners based on message, creativity, results, call to action or brand connection and overall impression. The ad contest was open to all U.S. and Canadian electric and gas utilities. The contest received a record number of 600 submissions this year. Other winners include AEP Ohio and Xcel Energy for second and third respectively in the category of Best Overall Campaign.

"We are pleased to be recognized among such notable company for this award," said Laura L. Monica, vice president, corporate communications, PHI. "We are committed to ensuring our customer communications efforts are as effective as possible. Relevant awards such as this one help us measure the quality of our work against others in both the utility and communications industries."

E Source, an electric industry research and advisory organization for 25 years, has held the contest each year since the organization's inception.

The winning entries were honored at a special awards luncheon held during the 25th Annual E Source Forum. They can be viewed at www.esource.com/adcontest2012.
