Checkpoint Systems Launches Enhanced Performance Label for Shoe Source Tagging and Improved on-Shelf Availability

One Billion Source Tagged Shoes in the Last Five Years

THOROFARE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Checkpoint Systems, Inc. (NYS: CKP) , a leading global supplier of shrink management, merchandise visibility and apparel labeling solutions for the retail industry, today announced the introduction of its 2815 Enhanced Performance (EP) Shoe Label, a small security label that is integrated into footwear during the shoe manufacturing process. Checkpoint Systems has source-tagged more than one billion shoes with Radio Frequency (RF) Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) labels in the last five years to help retailers in the fight against shrink.

Shoes are a high-risk theft item, difficult to protect and display at the same time. In fact, according to the most recent Global Retail Theft Barometer, shrink rates for footwear increased year over year to 0.99 percent globally and 1.2 percent in North America. The 2815 EP Shoe Label provides an additional level of security for all retail outlets selling shoes, including apparel, sporting goods and footwear specialty stores.

Significantly smaller than existing shoe labels, the RF 2815 EP Shoe Label offers enhanced detection and deactivation performance. This means a significant reduction in false alarms, enabling retailers to adjust their approach policies accordingly. Working closely with shoe manufacturers, Checkpoint designed the 2815 EP Shoe Label to sustain greater processing tolerance during the manufacturing process and allow high-speed integration and melding temperatures so that manufacturers can apply it easily without compromising the performance of the label at stores.

Farrokh Abadi, President & Chief Operating Officer Shrink Management Solutions Checkpoint Systems, said, "We are delighted to introduce our newest shoe label, which we designed together with shoe manufacturers and retailers. This slender, high-performing solution not only helps retailers reduce theft, but also improves availability on store shelves, increasing customer satisfaction."

The 2815 EP Shoe Label is available immediately.
