EPS came in at $0.85. The 20 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $1.01 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.62 for Q3 were 54% lower than the prior-year quarter's $1.36 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 47.1%, 1,130 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 30.6%, 2,260 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 18.0%, 1,640 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.

Looking ahead
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $3.95 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.19.

Next year's average estimate for revenue is $14.49 billion. The average EPS estimate is $4.01.
