The Fool Looks Ahead

Updated

There's never a dull week on Wall Street. Let's go over some of the news that will shape the week to come.

Monday
The new trading week kicks off with Silver Wheaton (NYS: SLW) reporting its latest financial report. The silver miner that also dabbles a bit in gold is expected to post a profit of $0.40 a share, just ahead of the $0.38 it cranked out a year earlier.

Improvement is good for investors of Silver Wheaton in more ways than the obvious. The company's payout policy is to distribute 20% of the prior quarter's operating cash flows in the form of a quarterly dividend. In other words, the more money Silver Wheaton makes, the bigger the yield.

Tuesday
Cedar Fair (NYS: FUN) is ready to ride on Tuesday. The operator of regional amusement parks should have plenty to say. This is naturally a highly seasonal business, and this quarter covers the company's telltale summer performance.

Wednesday
Qualcomm (NAS: QCOM) calls in on Wednesday. The patent-rich provider of wireless technology and services is often seen as a thinking investor's bet on the mobile revolution. Analysts are holding out for a profit of $0.82 a share, just ahead of the $0.80 it earned a year earlier.

Thursday
Roundy's
(NYS: RNDY) checks out with its fresh quarterly results on Thursday. The grocery store operator went public in February, and it's been a lousy time to be a publicly traded supermarket chain. There have been some implosions. The upside to Roundy's getting pounded in its out-of-favor niche is that it now yields 16.6%. Is it sustainable? Thursday's report will help shed some light on that important question.

Friday
The week closes out with Energizer Holdings (NYS: ENR) reporting. Analysts see the battery giant's quarterly profit improving from $1.10 a share a year ago to $1.55 this time around.
