Treasure Isle and FishVille bid farewell to Facebook on December 5
Late last month, we learned the disappointing news that Zynga would be "sunsetting" 13 games across its catalog in the coming weeks and months, but any details as to specific game closures were still under wraps. Now though, we've learned that at least two of the 13 games are Treasure Isle and FishVille, both of which will be closed on December 5.
The news comes via announcements on the games' Facebook fanpages, which both state the same thing: that the games will be shutting down on December 5 and that players are being encouraged to try other games. Thankfully, it looks like any concern over the closure of YoVille and Mafia Wars was a bit premature, as these are just two of the games (in addition to CastleVille, ChefVille and FarmVille 2) that players are being encouraged to try.
If you're still a loyal player of either Treasure Isle or FishVille, you are eligible for a one time bonus in any of the above games, which can be redeemed from now until December 5 when the games go offline. To redeem these items, you'll need to login to the game and hit the "redeem" button to make your choice. Unfortunately, these games are no longer open to new players, so you had to be a prior player to be eligible for rewards.
Once you login to your game(s), you'll be greeted with the same closure statement, and will see the "Redeem Offer" button at the bottom. This takes you to a survey page where you can choose from six games to receive a "compensation" package: YoVille, Mafia Wars, FarmVille 2, ChefVille, CastleVille and CityVille 2. There aren't any specific details as to what these packages contain, but we'll do our best to figure out the contents of each so that you can make a more informed decision before December 5.
We'll make sure to update this space when we learn more about what sorts of items players will receive as a farewell gift to Treasure Isle and FishVille, and we'll also make sure to keep an eye out for further closure announcements as they're revealed.
