Today's Market Winners and Losers

The stock market is up Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.24%, the Nasdaq up 1.32% and the S&P 500 up 1.04%. Today's winner will be taken private, while today's loser sees problems in future quarters, although this quarter's financials were strong.

Biggest Winner

Shares of JDA Software Group Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS) are up 17.40% to $44.79 on trading volume of 20.4 million shares. The company agreed to be bought out by rival RedPrarie, a private company, for $45 a share, or about $1.9 billion. Before Thursday, the 52-week high was $38.20.

Biggest Loser

Shares of Cirrus Logic Inc. (NASDAQ: CRUS) are down 13.78% to $35.16 on trading volume of 7.6 million shares. While the semiconductor supplier reported better than expected second-quarter financial results and raised their third-quarter guidance, the company said modeling revenue for the quarter after that would be down 15% and gross margins would be crimped. The 52-week low is $14.26.
