Steelcase Promotes Jim Keane to COO

Office furniture and business equipment company Steelcase (NYS: SCS) announced today that it will be promoting Jim Keane to the position of chief operating officer (COO). Keane has served as chief financial officer for the company, as well as the head of research and development. Most recently Keane was president of Steelcase Group in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa, according to a company press release.

In the COO role, Keane will oversee "design, engineering, development, manufacturing, sales and distribution of the company's brands." Keane is quoted in the company press release as saying he is "honored to take a role that allows [CEO James Hackett] to devote more of his time to envisioning our future direction."

Steelcase is a 100-year-old company with operations in 160 countries, and a $1.26 billion market capitalization.
