Every holiday, major or minor, is just another pretext for retailers, restaurants and other shops to run special promotions. And with Halloween upon us Wednesday, that means there will be deals and freebies galore this week. So if getting free candy just for dressing up isn't a good enough deal for you, here are a few others that may strike your fancy.

Chipotle (CMG) has what may be the most famous Halloween promotion: Boorito. Go into any Chipotle on Halloween from 4 p.m. to closing -- with your costume on -- and you'll be rewarded with a burrito, bowl or salad for just $2. And unlike in past years, when the company tried to emphasize its reliance on small farms by only giving the discount to those wearing a costume "inspired by the family farm," this year it seems any costume will do. And while you're at Chipotle, take a picture of yourself in costume and send it in to the company for a chance to win up to $2,500.

Meanwhile, fast food chain Sonic is offering a Halloween deal of its own: All day on Halloween, participating locations will offer corn dogs for just 50 cents each. Since Sonic corn dogs usually only cost around a dollar, this deal doesn't quite stack up to Chipotle's, though at least you don't have to dress up for your food. And while you're there you can grab another solid deal: Buy one premium chicken sandwich and get a second free. While the corn dog deal is only good on Halloween, the printable coupon for the chicken sandwiches is good through Nov. 10.
