FarmVille 2 dons creepy couture for a Halloween harvest

Zynga's most popular Facebook game, FarmVille 2, might be brand new, but it's just as ready as the rest to get down for the first fall holiday: Halloween. And with a number of new costumes for farmers and animals alike along with an all-new nighttime farming system, the team heading up the FarmVille sequel seems to take this spooky holiday seriously.

Starting today through Halloween, players Level 5 and above will notice that a night sky has blanketed their farms complete with a full moon and jack-o-lanterns aplenty. If players should welcome helpers to their farms, they'll appear as skeletons as flocks of bats soar overhead and the bushes surrounding farms blink with the eyes of monsters creeping about.

And like we said, the farm's animals have dressed up in time for the big event, too. Cows and calves are, funnily enough, dolled up as chickens, while horses and foals wear the cowls and canines of vampires. The hens and chicks have pirate-themed get-ups, and rabbits are done up as wickedly adorable, little witches. Finally, sheep are dressed up like pandas. Pandas, people! So yeah, FarmVille 2 takes Halloween seriously.
