Lenovo Announces Enterprise Product Group
New organization reinforces Lenovo's commitment to building global capabilities for commercial customers
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Lenovo (HKSE: 0992) (ADR: LNVGY) today announced it has formed the Enterprise Product Group. The new unit will expand Lenovo's server, storage, networking and software offerings geared to a variety of commercial customers, including large enterprise, small/medium business and systems integrators. The Enterprise Product Group is Lenovo's latest investment in its strategy to build on its foundation in PCs and become a leader in the PC Plus era for companies of all sizes.
To help meet customers' current and future data management needs, the new organization will oversee development of products related to Lenovo's recent partnership with EMC, in three main areas:
- embedded servers for EMC storage
- original equipment manufacter's reselling EMC offerings
- working with the EMC-Lenovo joint venture to develop new storage offerings
The new organization will be led by Roy Guillen, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Product Group, Lenovo. Guillen joins Lenovo from Dell, where he was vice president and general manager of its data center solutions business.
"As we aggressively expand the breadth of our product portfolio, the Enterprise Product Group will answer the increased demand for robust server, storage and cloud solutions in both mature and emerging markets," said Peter Hortensius, senior vice president, and president, Lenovo Product Group. "Under Roy Guillen's leadership, the new Enterprise Product Group will include development, operations, and marketing teams whose job it is to manage and grow our portfolio of new products, identify new alliances and partnerships, and accelerate Lenovo's credibility as a supplier of enterprise solution to customers around the world."
One of the new organization's key objectives is to expand Lenovo's alliances and partnership ecosystem in line with predicted market growth, and in so doing, provide the greatest value to customers. According to IDC, server shipments are expected to reach $40.6B USD globally by 2014, and Lenovo's goal is to grow faster than the market, while building its enterprise business capabilities worldwide.
With critical product refreshes to be announced in the coming months and into 2013, Lenovo's commercial customers will soon have a complete set of enterprise-level products to choose from complimenting those already available to end users deploying Think and Idea-branded offerings. For example, Lenovo recently expanded its server portfolio with the new ThinkServer RD430 and ThinkServer RD330 rack servers. The abundance of connected, cloud and mobile devices likely will create solid demand for both server and storage solutions for the forseeable future.
