Basic Energy Services Meets on Revenues, Misses on EPS
Basic Energy Services (NYS: BAS) reported earnings on Oct. 25. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Sep. 30 (Q3), Basic Energy Services met expectations on revenues and missed estimates on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue contracted slightly and GAAP earnings per share contracted significantly.

EPS came in at $0.21. The 17 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.23 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.16 for Q3 were 75% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.64 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 34.7%, 480 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 7.5%, 900 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 1.9%, 580 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $328.5 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.12.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $1.40 billion. The average EPS estimate is $1.21.
The stock has a three-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 320 members out of 343 rating the stock outperform, and 23 members rating it underperform.
