Precision Drilling (NYS: PDS) reported earnings on Oct. 25. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Sep. 30 (Q3), Precision Drilling missed estimates on revenues and missed estimates on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue grew and GAAP earnings per share contracted significantly.

EPS came in at $0.14. The 15 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.18 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.14 for Q3 were 50% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.28 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 38.0%, 470 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 15.3%, 940 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 8.1%, 880 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $551.8 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.22.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $2.08 billion. The average EPS estimate is $0.85.
The stock has a five-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 1,644 members out of 1,687 rating the stock outperform, and 43 members rating it underperform.
