Owens-Illinois Beats on EPS But GAAP Results Lag

EPS came in at $0.69. The 13 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.67 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.54 for Q3 were 23% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.70 per share. (The prior-year quarter included -$0.02 per share in earnings from discontinued operations.)

For the quarter, gross margin was 19.6%, 120 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 11.3%, 110 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 5.2%, 100 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $1.73 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.42.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $7.00 billion. The average EPS estimate is $2.63.
