Polycom® RealPresence® Mobile Video Enables Growing Law Firm Morris Polich & Purdy LLP to Improve Collaboration
Growing firm turns smartphones and tablets into live video environments to enhance staff meetings, interviews, executive team meetings, client interaction and 1:1 conversations
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Polycom, Inc. (NAS: PLCM) , the global leader in open standards-based unified communications and collaboration (UC&C), today announced that the law firm of Morris Polich & Purdy LLP (MPP) is using Polycom® RealPresence® video solutions. These solutions facilitate face to face collaboration across five offices, with clients and contacts worldwide. Over the past five years, MPP has increased its number of offices from three to five, and the number of attorneys from 52 to 94.
MPP is using a variety of Polycom video solutions, including the secure and award-winning Polycom® RealPresence® Mobile app, RealPresence Desktop software and group video systems, all powered by the Polycom® RealPresence® Platform - the most interoperable and comprehensive UC&C software infrastructure for universal video collaboration. With offices in Los Angeles, Irvine, San Diego, San Francisco and Las Vegas, MPP represents clients in every state as well as U.S. possessions. The firm also has a wealth of international affiliations.
More Efficient and Personalized Recruitment Process
One of the significant Polycom video-enabled processes at MPP is streamlined recruitment, a multi-step process which involves candidates, managers, recruiters and HR professionals in multiple locations. The firm's expansion created a need to accelerate this process, but it was important to maintain as much personal interaction between managers and candidates as possible to help managers make the best personnel decisions.
"MPP needed a powerful video solution to connect and empower managers to communicate and collaborate throughout the hiring process," said George Brandon, partnership development leader at Morris, Polich & Purdy LLP. "Although in-person interviewing is still very important, Polycom has enabled MPP to build innovation into our recruitment process. Not only are we minimizing travel and maximizing hard cost savings, MPP is increasing productivity by replacing some business trips with video."
Greater Collaboration across the Firm
MPP employees have downloaded Polycom RealPresence Mobile software app for their smartphones and tablets, giving them greater flexibility to participate in meetings from anywhere at any time. Additionally, MPP is also using Polycom video collaboration software on their desktops and laptops for meetings. Employees also use Polycom video collaboration where appropriate to enhance client service, such as conducting meetings and other client work via video, to expedite cases and keep costs in check while maintaining robust person-to-person interaction.
"When a firm grows the way we have, it is necessary to be creative to support the needs of the business," said Brandon. "Polycom offers exceptional technology and a best in class user experience, which has enhanced the way we work. Using Polycom for secure meetings, we increase our understanding and cohesiveness through visual connections in a way that is far richer than a basic phone call. Before implementing Polycom solutions, we had spent $3,000 for a one-time, international video conference call with a client. Now, we can host such calls whenever we want without incurring any additional cost. Internally, our managing partner and other leaders in the firm can use Polycom's mobile app to chair meetings from their tablets when they travel. Polycom helps us connect people wherever they are needed."
Video Bridges the Distance Among 5 Offices for the Lowest TCO
For large events, such as inter-office staff meetings, MPP uses Polycom® HDX® Series room solutions. Through deploying RealPresence Mobile software, the firm realizes increasing value from its room systems with more people overall participating in video conferences. In addition, the intelligent camera of the Polycom® EagleEye Director automatically locates and focuses on active speakers through voice triangulation and facial detection technology, providing a revolutionary immersive experience in any meeting space.
"The Polycom EagleEye Director is extremely valuable," said Brandon. "It's like having our own cameraman on every video conference. The experience becomes truly immersive and lifelike when the camera focuses and provides close-ups of each speaker using automated camera pan, tilt, and zoom."
Brandon also cited Polycom's low bandwidth utilization—as much as 50 percent lower than competitors' solutions—as another important benefit.
