According to reports, it looks like Zynga tried to pull a fast one in issuing layoffs and potential studio closures across the company during Apple's iPad mini announcement. According to Kotaku and Gamasutra, Zynga has closed its Boston studio entirely, the team responsible for Indiana Jones Adventure World, and possibly more than 100 more staffers.

A tweet from Justin Maxwell seemingly spurred the reports, claiming that Zynga has laid off over 100 folks working at its Austin studio, which is responsible for The Ville. (You know, that game that's been the focus of a massive lawsuit?) According to Maxwell, the company gave those affected two hours to vacate the building.

It seems that the news of Zynga Boston's shuttering comes from tweets as well, thanks to a handful of seemingly affected employees. According to Joystiq, reports of layoffs at the gaming giant's Chicago have also struck. Finally, reports also claim that the team behind Zynga Bingo has been affected as well. We've reached out to Zynga for comment.

Are you surprised by reports of massive layoffs at Zynga? How will this effect its games? Sound off in the comments. Add Comment.
