Company signs on to support National Safety Council's Center for EHS Excellence

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IHS (NYS: IHS) , the leading source of information and analytics, today announced that it is now a charter member of the Campbell Institute. The newly established Campbell Institute is the center of excellence for environmental, health and safety (EHS) at the National Safety Council, bringing together leaders of high performing organizations who believe that EHS is at the core of business vitality and intrinsic to business operational excellence.

"It is an honor for IHS to be a founding member of the Campbell Institute," said IHS Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jerre Stead. "EHS and Sustainability is now a global business imperative and the Campbell Institute's vision of healthy and high-performing workplaces and workforces is directly in line with what we at IHS are helping our customers achieve through a comprehensive approach to Enterprise Sustainability Management. In addition, our own focus on creating a great place for our highly engaged colleagues to work has been a key enabler of our success."

"We are proud to welcome IHS as a charter member," said Laura Fiffick, senior director of the Campbell Institute. "As a recognized leader in the field of EHS, IHS will be able to help us build partnerships with a global network of business leaders, educators, professionals and practitioners. IHS will serve with other charter members on the Campbell Institute's Steering Committee. This prestigious group will develop strategies and programs to help organizations with exemplary EHS programs develop evidence-based, actionable solutions while also enabling other organizations to raise their EHS performance through enhanced leadership, improved systems, and stronger skill sets.

To achieve its vision of being world-class in Corporate Sustainability by 2015, IHS is focused on improving its public reporting and providing greater insight regarding environmental and social dimensions; increasing its focus on metrics, tracking and goal setting on operational eco-efficiency; continuing its commitment to and support of citizenship and philanthropy, and continuing its corporate governance focus. In addition to focusing internally on Corporate Sustainability, IHS is also leading the industry in helping clients develop and implement unified strategies to achieve their vision for Enterprise Sustainability Management (ESM) - including environmental, health and safety, operational risk, energy and carbon, product stewardship and corporate responsibility.
