Cintas Partners with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling for Fifth Annual "Protect Your Identity Week," October 20-27

-Consumers nationwide are invited to shred documents and learn about identity theft protection-

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- To help consumers fight against identity theft, Cintas Corporation (NAS: CTAS) , a leader in secure document management services, today announced it is the official document management partner for the National Foundation for Credit Counseling's (NFCC's) annual National Protect Your Identity Week. The National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) and the National Association of Triads (NATI) are also joining the NFCC as co-hosts this year.

Taking place October 20-27, the week will consist of identity theft education and protection events across the country, with many including free shredding services powered by Cintas. Anyone can participate by bringing personal documents to their local event to have them securely shredded by an on-site Cintas shredding truck along with a certified Cintas representative at participating locations.

From drop-off to destruction, all documents will be constantly monitored and protected. All of the shredded documents will be recycled into secondary paper products, such as paper towels and tissue paper to reduce waste and impact on the environment.

"We are proud to partner with the NFCC, NSA and NATI for the third year in a row to raise awareness of identity theft," said Jamie Samide, senior director of marketing for emerging business, Cintas Document Management. "We are also excited to help fight identity theft by offering consumers our secure shredding services free of charge to ensure that their private information is securely destroyed."

This year's Protect Your Identity Week will focus on identity theft education and awareness for mobile device protection. AllClear ID, a title sponsor, will provide information on how to find out if your mobile devices are protected from identity theft. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to donate their mobile phone to HopeLine from Verizon. HopeLine collects no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories and puts them to work in communities helping victims and survivors of domestic violence.

"Despite the dependence we place in our smartphones, 62 percent of users do not use a password on their home screen. Consumers need to recognize that the convenience of smartphones also allows the opportunity for thieves to help themselves to our personal information," said Gail Cunningham, vice president of membership and public relations, NFCC. "We are thrilled to partner with such reputable businesses that are focused on providing the best ways to protect the technology you use every day to thwart identity thieves."

During Protect Your Identity Week, events will be hosted nationwide by a local member of the NFCC, NSA, NATI or an affiliated Coalition Member. For more information about Protect Your Identity Week, including a list of all local events, please visit www.ProtectYourIDNow.org.
