DEL-JEN, Inc. and AECOM Comprise Winning Team for Rock Island Arsenal

IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Fluor Corporation (NYS: FLR) announced today that the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) selected Rock Island Integrated Services (RIIS), a joint venture of DEL-JEN, Inc., a Fluor company, and AECOM, to perform base operations support at the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois, as well as at six other locations in Illinois and Iowa. Rock Island is the nation's oldest government-owned weapons manufacturing arsenal. The RIIS companies have worked at Rock Island since 1997, earning the Occupational Excellence Achievement award for the past two years from the National Safety Council. The estimated value of the follow-on contract is approximately $109 million over five years. Fluor booked the first year's contract value into backlog in the third quarter 2012. Additional contract values will be booked in subsequent years.

"We are pleased to be able to continue our work at Rock Island and very proud of the Army's confidence in us to provide support to our men and women in uniform and their families," said Bruce Stanski, president of Fluor's Government Group. "Rock Island is home to approximately 6,000 military, civilian and contractor personnel. It's our responsibility to ensure the base facilities and utilities continuously support this vital defense installation."

The contract's scope includes public works support for the hydroelectric plant; steam generating plant and natural gas boilers, facilities engineering administration, water and sanitary sewage systems; government bridge operations; electrical distribution systems; water treatment and distribution, sanitary sewage and storm water drainage systems, fire suppressant and alarm systems; buildings and structures; roads and grounds; pest management and control; family housing; as well as a variety of unscheduled services.

The majority of the work will occur at the Rock Island Arsenal main base, a 946-acre island located on the Mississippi River between Davenport, Iowa and Rock Island, Ill. The facility includes a military family housing complex, the oldest swingspan bridge still in use on the Mississippi River, and multiple historic sites such as the Rock Island National Historic Cemetery, the Colonel Davenport House Museum, and the Mississippi River Visitors Center.
