Yahoo! (NAS: YHOO) has hired Google (NAS: GOOG) exec Henrique de Castro to be its chief operating officer. De Castro will be responsible for strategic and operational management of Yahoo!'s sales, operations, media and business development worldwide.

He will report to CEO Marissa Mayer, who also crossed over from Google, becoming Yahoo!'s CEO in July. De Castro, 47, has served as vice president of Google's worldwide Partner Business Solutions group since March 2012. He has been with Google for several years.

He brings more than 20 years of operational experience to the table, and has spent much of his career in advertising and nurturing partner relationships.
