QlikView Direct Discovery Launched for Rapid Visual Analysis of Combined Big Data and In-Memory Sources

Puts Big Data Discovery in the Hands of Business Users

RADNOR, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- QlikTech, (NASDAQ: QLIK) a leader in Business Discovery - user-driven Business Intelligence (BI), today announced the launch of QlikView Direct Discovery for direct access to big data sources within QlikView apps. As part of QlikView's Big Data Discovery strategy, Direct Discovery can link data already loaded in-memory with big data sources for rapid visual analysis. With this hybrid model for comprehensive analysis, there is no need to choose between direct access to big data or pre-loading data in-memory. QlikView Direct Discovery will be part of the QlikView Version 11 upgrade available in December 2012 at no additional cost.

Simplified User Experience Powered by Big Data
By directly querying tables without a complicated ETL process, IT departments are able to open up all the vast information sources that were previously out of reach to the business user. This hybrid approach unifies data silos giving users the data they need when they need it without time or productivity drains. With QlikView Direct Discovery users gain high performance big data access with all of the associative search options of QlikView Business Discovery. Users can continue to explore information freely rather than being confined to a predefined path of questions. This insight for everyone can be deployed in a mobile environment or with a social and collaborative experience.

"What our enterprise customers love about QlikView is it makes data that was once just stored, now used on a daily basis. Its intuitive nature makes people to which this data is most relevant become devoted power users," said Anthony Deighton, Chief Technology Officer at QlikTech. "By directly connecting to the largest data warehouses as well as leveraging data loaded in memory, this opens up the possibilities for countless new QlikView applications. Now, big data sets can get the big business brains behind them to make all of those insights actionable for results. As the pioneers in memory analysis, this truly marks a major milestone for the next era of Big Data Business Discovery."

Big Data Discovery without Limits
Although traditional business intelligence or visualization engine vendors allow either the analysis of in-memory or data warehouse sources, QlikView delivers both sources in a single analysis. This means retail sales trends in QlikView, for instance, can now be analyzed with massive transactional data from the data warehouse to reveal consumer buying patterns for more informed and effective sales promotions. Customers can achieve this enterprise agility with the same rapid implementations and optimized performance they are accustomed to in QlikView.

Customers or partners interested in the Direct Discovery beta program can contact beta@qlikview.com immediately to take part before general availability in December 2012.
