FalconStor Software Customer First Resource Management Group Will Lead Data Protection Session at Storage Networking World

Canadian-based Company Will Detail How It Replaced Tape with Disk-based Disaster Recovery Solution

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- FalconStor Software, Inc. (NAS: FALC) , a market leader in disk-based data protection, today announced that its customer, First Resource Management Group, will present at the Storage Networking World (SNW) fall conference in Santa Clara, Calif., on Thursday, October 18 at 4:05 p.m. PT. Jamie Andrews, geographic information systems (GIS)/IT manager at First Resource Management Group, will outline how his firm reduced staff time spent on inefficient tape backup solutions by implementing continuous data protection for effective disaster recovery and business continuity.

Produced by Computerworld and co-owned by Computerworld and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), SNW is one of the largest conferences providing a forum for thought leadership and education related to storage, data and infrastructure solutions. Andrews' presentation, "User Case Study: Protecting a Forest of Data By Eliminating Tape," will discuss his company's implementation of a disk-based, off-site disaster recovery solution to protect valuable GIS data, forest management planning information and imagery used for its work with the Ministry of Natural Resources. The presentation will demonstrate how businesses can replace cumbersome tape backup solutions and prevent data loss in the event of a disaster or IT failure.

"Under our previous tape system, data was backed up every night. If there was an issue during the day, we could have lost hours worth of work. With hourly disk-based backup through continuous data protection and a remote DR site, now we can easily recover a file, which increases our productivity," said Jamie Andrews, GIS/IT manager at First Resource Management Group. "By demonstrating our success with this data protection model, I'll show attendees the value of creating a data protection and disaster recovery plan that will allow their businesses to continue to operate regardless of IT failures or natural disasters."

The Storage Networking World fall conference will take place at the Hyatt Regency Silicon Valley/Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif., October 16 to 19, 2012.
