AVX Introduces a New Series of Temperature-Compensated Crystal Oscillators for Femtocell, Stratum 3, and Other Industrial Applications

Top TCXO Supplier for Mobile Phones Expands Range of Ideal Applications with a New Series Featuring Extremely Tight Temperature Frequency Tolerance

GREENVILLE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced passive components and interconnect solutions, has developed a new series of temperature-compensated crystal oscillators (TCXO) with high stability, high reliability, low phase noise, and extremely tight temperature frequency tolerance. The new KT5032F TCXO Series expands the product's range of ideal applications well beyond the mobile phone industry, for which AVX Kyocera is a top TCXO supplier, to include Femtocell, Picocell, Microcell, Stratum 3, SONET, SDH, Ethernet, and several other industrial applications that require very tight tolerances.

"With an approximately 40% market share in mobile phone applications, AVX Kyocera is the leading global supplier of temperature-compensated crystal oscillators," said Larry Eisenberger, product manager at AVX. "Our new TCXO series, which offers superior temperature tolerance performance, will enable us to extend our reach beyond cellular applications, providing several other applications with the trusted quality and performance with which we have earned our position as a leading manufacturer of TCXO products."

The highly accurate KT5032F TCXO Series provides extremely tight frequency stability: +/- 0.1ppm over a temperature range of -10°C to +70°C (+80°C for certain frequencies) and +/- 0.28ppm over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The series also delivers +/- 20ppb holdover for up to 24 hours at 25°C, as well as supports an overall tolerance of +/- 4.6ppm under all conditions, including 20 years aging at 40°C.

Other notable features of the KT5032F TCXO Series include: a supply voltage range of 2.7-5.5V, a clipped sine wave or CMOS level output, and a disable function. The series is available immediately in order volumes ranging from 3,000 to one million pieces.
