Books 1-6 available on October 30, Book 7 available on publication date, November 13

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- (NAS: AMZN) - Amazon.com today announced that Jeff Kinney's best-selling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, published by Amulet Books, an imprint of ABRAMS, is coming to Kindle - offered digitally for the first time ever. Starting today, Kindle customers can pre-order the first six books in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series from the Kindle Store (www.amazon.com/kindlestore), and they will be delivered and available for regular purchase on October 30. Customers can also pre-order the upcoming "The Third Wheel (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Book 7)" today and it will be delivered to Kindle customers on its publication date, November 13.

"We're thrilled to have the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series available for our Kindle customers," said Russ Grandinetti, Vice President, Kindle Content. "We took care to faithfully reproduce the diary entries and illustrations in Jeff Kinney's outstanding series, and they look great on both our Kindle e-readers and our new Kindle Fires. This is a perfect example of why we built FreeTime on Kindle Fire - kids are going to love reading these books."

"The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is our top-selling kid's series for 2012, and Kinney's blend of humor and graphic novel illustration continues to inspire kids across genders and ages to enjoy books," said Seira Wilson, Children's Book Editor, Amazon.com Books. "Having the Wimpy Kid books available on Kindle should help even more young readers discover this popular series."

"It was important to Jeff and to Abrams that our Wimpy Kid e-books offer the same visual experience as the print books," said Michael Jacobs, President and CEO of Abrams. "We are pleased that our respective digital teams worked together to faithfully reproduce the print books' familiar diary layout and illustrations in e-book format. We know readers will also enjoy the additional digital enhancements."

In print format, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is the best-selling kid's series this year, and "The Third Wheel (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Book 7)" is the most pre-ordered kid's title in 2012.

The books in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, along with over 7,000 other children's books, will be available in Kindle's new Free Time feature, which gives parents easy-to-use tools to personalize their children's digital media experience. With FreeTime, parents never have to worry what content their kids will access—parents select all the content their kids can see and kids can't exit FreeTime without a password. FreeTime also lets parents limit their kids' screen time by content type—they may choose to limit videos and games, for example, but make reading time unlimited. Kindle FreeTime will be available soon on the all new Kindle Fire devices.

Like all Kindle books, the books in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series are "Buy Once, Read Everywhere" - customers will be able to read them on any Kindle device or free Kindle reading app. Amazon's Whispersync technology syncs your place across devices, so you can pick up where you left off. In addition, with the Kindle Worry-Free Archive, books will be automatically backed up online in your Kindle Library on Amazon where they can be re-downloaded wirelessly for free, anytime.
