Aetna Offers Members Free Training Program For Holiday Walks And Runs

Aetna EveractiveSMprogram helps members become more active as the food-filled Thanksgiving and winter holidays approach; every member registration benefits food banks nationwide

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Aetna (NYSE: AET) is opening its Aetna EveractiveSM program to all consumers, just in time to sign up for a free six-week "Lean into Thanksgiving" training program that prepares them for "turkey trots" and other Thanksgiving community walks and runs. Aetna Everactive is a new social community that brings together virtual health and fitness resources with opportunities to participate in real-life local events.

Aetna also has pledged to donate $1 to Feeding America for every consumer (up to $10,000) who registers with Aetna Everactive before Thanksgiving. Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity, working through a nationwide network of member food banks.

"What better time to step up your physical activity than just before the holiday dinners, parties and non-stop treats that come with the season?" said Michael J. Guyette, President of Aetna National Accounts. "We want to make it easy for our members and other consumers to get active, with online training programs and support, combined with connections to local walks and runs. We're also supporting this healthy initiative by pledging a donation to fight hunger in America for every new consumer who signs up."

Individuals can register for Aetna Everactive at no cost at www.aetnaeveractive.com.

When subscribers register, they will see information about our special online Lean Into Thanksgiving training program, designed to help them prepare to walk or run a 5K by Thanksgiving. They can also track their exercise and progress, get online and mobile support, and find local events that fit with their schedule and activity level.

When people join Aetna Everactive, they get both encouragement and easy-to-follow, step-by-step guides to health and fitness for all fitness levels. They also get integrated access to Active.com®, the leading online community for people who want to discover, participate in and share activities about which they are passionate, and Aetna's custom version of Active.com Trainer to help coach and motivate users on their fitness journey. Aetna Everactive lets its community members search for fitness activities and things to do in their area (such as walks and runs) by asking them where they want to start.
