FedEx Trade Networks Completes ACE Migration
As One of the First Companies to Participate in the ACE Modernization Program, FedEx Trade Networks has Enabled Summary Filing at all U.S. Ports of Entry and Piloted Simplified Entry for its Customers
MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- FedEx Trade Networks, the freight forwarding and customs brokerage arm of global shipping giant FedEx Corp. (NYS: FDX) , announced today it has completed its mission to enable ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) entry summary filing at all U.S. ports of entry.
The year-long migration effort began at U.S. border crossings and then expanded to commercial air and sea ports before concluding with ACE implementation at all FedEx Express international hubs.
ACE is U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) new automation system which replaces the aging Automated Commercial System (ACS). By getting on board early, FedEx Trade Networks has developed its expertise and improved its system capabilities for the new regulatory environment.
"Technology plays a huge role in our business and any opportunity to work with CBP to pioneer innovation in our industry is always a win," said Andy Henry, vice president of U.S. Operations for FedEx Trade Networks.
In accomplishing its mission, FedEx Trade Networks is filing ACE entries well ahead of any CBP mandated cutover date. For this reason, the company expects no service disruptions when the cutover becomes mandatory.
As an early ACE adopter, FedEx Trade Networks and its participating customers are taking advantage of the new features of ACE, including the use of electronic Post Summary Corrections (PSCs) to replace paper Post Entry Amendments (PEAs). In addition, FedEx Trade Networks and its eligible customers are participating in the ACE Simplified Entry and the Document Image System (DIS) pilot programs.
The new features make the clearance process faster with their reliance on electronic provision and expanded analysis of shipment information. "Customers benefit from the improved visibility and expanded functionality of the new ACE systems which allows them to make better, real-time decisions regarding their shipments," Henry added. "As the largest-volume customs entry filer in the U.S., FedEx Trade Networks is pleased to lead the way in this new regulatory environment and make processes simpler for our customers."
