Single Touch Provides Intellectual Property Update

Participated in a Settlement Conference with Zoove and Filed Suit Against Hulu in August; Continues to deliver Letters of Notification

JERSEY CITY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Single Touch Interactive, a wholly owned subsidiary of Single Touch Systems Inc. (OTC BB: SITO) ("the Company"), a technology based mobile media solutions provider that enables businesses, advertisers and brands to easily connect with customers through its patented technologies, provided today an update on the Company's increasing efforts to protect and monetize its intellectual property (IP) rights.

Recent IP activity includes:

  • Participated in a Settlement Conference with Zoove related to the Company's Mobile Abbreviated Dial Code IP

On August 27, 2012, Single Touch participated in a settlement conference with Zoove Corporation. The settlement conference is another progressive step in the Company's patent infringement lawsuit against Zoove, which commenced with the complaint Single Touch filed against Zoove in February of 2012 alleging patent infringement on Single Touch's U.S. Patent Nos. 7,813,716 and 8,041,341 relating to the use of abbreviated dial tones on mobile phones. Single Touch and Zoove have since continued discussions about a possible settlement.

  • Filed Infringement Patent Suit Against Hulu for Streaming Media IP

August 24, 2012, Single Touch filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Hulu, LLC in the United States District Court in the Central District of California. The Company alleges that Hulu has knowingly and willfully infringed upon a Single Touch patent that protects its streaming and routing media technology. In its complaint, Single Touch seeks compensatory and enhanced damages from Hulu. The patent at issue covers Single Touch's unique streaming and routing media technology, which allows a publisher to stream video content to users and serve advertisements, among other applications.

Single Touch retained the law firm Polsinelli Shughart to handle its current cases through Keith Grady, chair of the Intellectual Property and Technology Litigation Group, and James Stipek, a shareholder in the Science and Technology Group. Polsinelli Shughart maintains a national presence in intellectual property enforcement and litigation in technology industries that have a need to protect innovation.

"We have an extensive and growing IP portfolio which we are aggressively defending. Our innovation drives the growth of our operating business and we are positioned to monetize our IP through both our operating business, and through licensing or settlements from companies that wish to continue to use our patented technologies," stated Anthony Macaluso Chairman and Chief Innovation Officer of Single Touch.
