Jacobs on Joint Venture Team Delivering Final Design for Sound Transit

Light Rail Extension Connecting Downtown Seattle to Neighboring Communities

PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYS: JEC) announced today that it is a member of the joint venture team that was awarded a final design contract by Sound Transit of Seattle, Wash. for its East Link light rail extension.


H-J-H Final Design Partners (H-J-H) is a joint venture of HNTB, Jacobs and Hatch Mott MacDonald. The Sound Transit contract awarded to H-J-H is valued at $88 million. Under the terms of the contract, H-J-H is delivering approximately seven miles of double-track light rail transit, eight stations, a cut-and-cover tunnel in downtown Bellevue, and long-span bridge crossings over interstates 405 and 90 for the South Bellevue to Overlake Transit Center portion of the East Link extension.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Kevin McMahon stated, "We are delighted to be on the final design team selected by Sound Transit for this project. We look forward to leveraging our capabilities to deliver this key element of the Puget Sound region's long-term transportation network."

The joint venture team's project manager, Mary Cay O'Malley of HNTB, stated, "This is a highly qualified team with a proven ability to deliver the very best design for Sound Transit and the communities it serves." The HNTB, Jacobs and Hatch Mott MacDonald team also includes 40 other design and professional services firms with more than 30 of those firms being small and disadvantaged business enterprises.
