Aetna Expands Its Integrated Disability and Absence Management Capabilities

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Aetna (NYSE: AET) announced today it is expanding its integrated capabilities to offer Aetna's disability customers and members a more simplified experience. Members will now benefit from a combined disability and workers' compensation claims process allowing them to file all of their claims through a single process. Aetna will provide these capabilities through agreements with three industry leaders in providing third party claims for worker's compensation: Broadspire, ESIS, Inc., and Gallagher Bassett Services.

The new user-friendly process allows for more efficient coordination of data sharing between workers' compensation administrators and Aetna. Aetna's disability and absence management programs focus on coordinating return to work efforts, helping members get healthy and back to work sooner, and helping employers improve overall productivity.

"Our seamless solution will provide our customers with more choices and options to fully integrate their workers' compensation offerings with Aetna's disability and absence management products," said Keith Nelson, head of Disability Benefits Systems for Aetna. "As the workers' compensation marketplace continues to change, a multi-partner solution will position Aetna with the ability to exceed our customers' needs and expectations."

Through the multiple agreements, Aetna will be able to fully answer to employer demands for solutions that improve workforce productivity. By offering an integrated solution that allows for the seamless exchange of workers' compensation and disability data, Aetna will be able to better meet customer needs in the marketplace.
