Leading Russian Insurer Selects QlikView as Its Business Intelligence Standard
QlikView Business Discovery platform will provide AlfaStrakhovanie Group with quality information for decision making and strengthen the analytical capabilities of regional offices
RADNOR, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- QlikTech (NASDAQ: QLIK), a leader in Business Discovery - user-driven Business Intelligence (BI), today announced that AlfaStrakhovanie Group, one of the largest insurance companies in Russia, has expanded its use of the QlikView Business Discovery platform and will standardize on the platform for all BI users worldwide. Having the capability to analyze data in real-time is crucial to AlfaStrakhovanie Group's successful development and widening the competition gap in the insurance market. In order to boost the efficiency of its analytical processes and provide insurance agents with a self-service BI solution, AlfaStrakhovanie Group has enlisted ATK Consulting Group, an Elite Partner of QlikTech, for the implementation of more than 1,000 QlikView licenses.
The AlfaStrakhovanie Group has been using ATK QlikView for Insurance since 2009. The decision to implement an innovative BI system was motivated by the need to decrease the time and resource allocated to the collection and creation of analytical data and to support the company's dynamic growth by providing individual divisions with real-time information. Initially, the main users of QlikView were in the operational department; however, as the functional capabilities were extending and the confidence in the information provided by QlikView was growing, it started to be used by new employees, including heads of branches and regional centers. Today AlfaStrakhovanie Group's QlikView user base spans the entire organization. From the actuarial department, who were involved in the project design; to the operations department, who had provided the business units with reports before QlikView was implemented; to the sales and underwriting departments.
"When we began using QlikView we realized that its capabilities not only fulfill the basic functions to build reports, but also provide the flexibility to perform a wide range of new tasks - and by the users themselves," said Andrey Pedorenko, CIO at AlfaStrakhovanie Group. "Now the scope of our QlikView deployment has expanded to a number of areas from the insurance business and the financial unit to the control of data quality. This year we have decided to significantly increase the number of QlikView users and offer it to our sales representatives to analyze and evaluate their own work."
A key use of QlikView is in the underwriting department for motor insurance and the analysis of sales figures. AlfaStrakhovanie Group offers dozens of motor insurance products. One of the top reasons that QlikView was implemented is because of the big need that the motor insurance underwriters had for analysis. Previously this was done in Microsoft Excel and Access, which incurred significant labor costs and did not provide a full view of the information landscape. QlikView, within seconds, provides information on loss ratios with dozens of variables such as the car's make, model, age, the driver's age and driving experience and the type of insurance product. The department receives the information required for making decisions related to tariff rates and insurance conditions, in real-time.
"From the very beginning of this project, AlfaStrakhovanie Group's approach to the development of BI in the company has been very strategic," commented Andrey Krasnopolsky, General Manager, Consulting Group ATK. "The stage of extending the analytical functionality in the company has lasted almost for three years, and today they have launched a dynamic expansion of analytics that will give them a new impetus to the expansion on the insurance market."
"AlfaStrakhovanie Group is one of many recent customers that prove the value of QlikView as an enterprise solution. This is especially impactful from a company like AlfaStrakhovanie, which serves millions of customers and hundreds of thousands companies," said Alexey Artemenko, Regional Director at QlikTech in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). "As more organizations throughout Russia become increasingly competitive in the global marketplace, they will want to follow in AlfaStrakhovanie Group's footsteps and move beyond basic reporting to self-service Business Discovery. We look forward to expanding the reach of QlikView in the region."
