Belden's Industrial Ethernet Infrastructure Design Seminar Opens to Record Attendance

Attendees Learn Leading Industrial Network Design Principles

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Belden Inc. (NYSE: BDC) a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, kicked off its annual Industrial Ethernet Infrastructure Design Seminar in Wheeling, IL with record attendance of 150 engineers, system integrators and partners. The seminar provides lectures and hands-on labs on everything from Ethernet cabling to a complete industrial Ethernet infrastructure with switches, routers, machine I/O devices, wireless devices and security technologies.

"The past few years have been a transformation for Belden from a cable company to a cable, connectivity and networking company. Now, we are the only organization focusing on meeting the needs of mission critical communications in industrial, enterprise and broadcast networking," remarked John Stroup, president and CEO of Belden. In his keynote address, Stroup went on to say, "We have been listening to our customers and we are moving forward in four areas to meet their needs. These areas include providing end-to-end solutions, expanding our customer service, developing innovative products and delivering operational excellence."

Steve Biegacki, Belden's senior vice president sales and marketing explained, "The company is shifting to provide end-to-end networking solutions using all of our leading industrial brands: Belden, GarrettCom, Hirschmann, Lumberg Automation, Poliron and Tofino. We have begun a series of workshops providing step-by-step network design best practices. We are also rolling out a new Network Certification program for Integrators and Installers."

"Belden focuses on five key areas to develop winning solutions for our customers," commented Lee House, vice president of strategy and product management. "These include reliability and redundancy, ease of installation, selecting the right solution for the job, securing the network with Defense in Depth practices and continuous product innovation."

The increased demand for real-time industrial information has expanded connectivity between industrial and enterprise networks. The seminar provides an opportunity for IT professionals to learn how to meet the unique demands of continuously operating industrial networks. Controls engineers, on the other hand, are learning topics from the fundamentals of Ethernet networking to the best practices for network security deployment.

Belden announced that next year's seminar will be held in Philadelphia in October.
