Value Investing Congress: Berkshire Hathaway 30% Under Intrinsic Value

Updated

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE: BRK-A) and Warren Buffett are both revered by many sorts of investors. One investor who has held shares of Berkshire Hathaway for a long time is Whitney Tilson of T2 Partners. At the Value Investing Congress came comments from Whitney Tilson talking up the "value" situation here.

Tilson said that Berkshire Hathaway's intrinsic value is perhaps closer to $175,000 per A-Share. If Tilson's valuation is anywhere close to accurate, then Team Warren Buffett has 30% upside to it.

We would note that Tilson has been a continuous bull on Berkshire Hathaway shares. This is not the first time he has publicly talked up his position in Berkshire Hathaway. It is also not the first time that Tilson has talked the position up at the Value Investing Congress.

What is interesting about this call is that it is coming effectively at a 52-week high. Berkshire Hathaway's A-shares rose more than 1% on the day and hit a high of $134,270 versus a 52-week high of $134,892 back on September 21.

The Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE: BRK-B) B-shares are up 1.4% at $89.44 and its daily high of $89.54 compares to a 52-week high of $89.95.

Warren Buffett has been out of the spotlight while he was getting treatment for his prostate cancer but the stock has continued on.
