Agreement Extends Long-Term Relationship, Provides Full-Scale Support and Services for HealthyRewards®Program Participants

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Healthways (NAS: HWAY) today announced an extension of their agreement with Excellus BlueCross BlueShield to continue administering the HealthyRewards® online wellness program to 220,000 Excellus BCBS HealthyBlue® plan members. The agreement runs through 2013 and promotes a solution designed to support and recognize healthy behaviors for individuals in the commercial population. Healthways has administered the program for Excellus BCBS via the ePhit technology platform since 2008.

HealthyRewards is an online incentive program designed to encourage HealthyBlue members to take a more active role in managing their health and well-being. Members can earn monetary incentives in HealthyRewards by living a healthier lifestyle. The program offers dividends for participation and reporting progress on activities such as eating better, exercising more, and getting routine check-ups.

As administrator of the program, Healthways provides full-scale customer service for HealthyRewards, as well as full administration of the awards redemption by supporting multiple redemption options. Healthways also provides reporting, data extracts, program enhancements, and dedicated tech support for ongoing maintenance, and works with other Excellus BCBS vendors to incorporate their activities through the rewards program.

"In HealthyRewards, Excellus BCBS has established an effective incentive program that encourages members to take a more active role in managing their health and well-being. Healthways applauds Excellus BCBS' ongoing efforts to promote and facilitate healthier behavior choices, and we look forward to continuing to administer the HealthyRewards program to ensure maximum member engagement and satisfaction," said Healthways president and chief executive officer Ben R. Leedle, Jr.
