During a time when school funding has been seriously impacted by budget cuts, all Barnes & Noble stores and Barnes & Noble.com (www.bn.com) will offer special discounts,* promotions and giveaways for pre K-grade 12 educators and administrators.
Educators who shop at Barnes & Noble during Educator Appreciation Week will receive:
A 25% discount on personal and classroom purchases;
A 10% discount on DVDs and music;

As part of their Educator Appreciation Week events, Barnes & Noble stores will host special workshops for teachers, librarians and literacy specialists focusing on "The Digital Classroom: Growing a New Generation of Learners." The presentation will focus on the challenges and opportunities of incorporating digital devices into the classroom and show how teachers across the country are utilizing NOOKs to create dynamic, interactive and individualized learning plans.
Booksellers also will demonstrate an exciting new digital education tool, the Nearpod mobile learning platform (www.nearpod.com). "Nearpod allows teachers to synchronize the use of NOOKs in the classroom via a teacher and student app. They can create lesson plans, synchronize them on multiple student devices, control them via their own device, and create and view interactive content, including quizzes. Educators attending the events also will receive information about Barnes & Noble's 2013 My Favorite Teacher Contest, which provides middle and high school students the opportunity to tell their communities how much they appreciate their teachers by writing an essay, poem or letter about them. Local winning teachers are recognized at an in-store event in the spring and become eligible to win prizes at the regional level. One regional winner will be named the Barnes & Noble National Teacher of the Year.
