Barnes & Noble Releases 2 New Tablets
Barnes & Noble (NYS: BKS) presented two new tablets, the 7-inch Nook HD and the 9-inch Nook HD+, on Tuesday. Industry watchers are noting the devices' family-oriented features, such as the ability to create up to six separate user profiles, each with different security settings. Barnes & Noble said the new Nooks "feature must-see displays for superior reading and entertainment and an instantly personalized tablet experience for each family member."
The price range for the products is also fairly competitive, with the models starting at $199 and $269. All versions of the devices will be available for pre-order beginning today, and will also be sold at Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, and other retailers.
The tablets will also reportedly be able to play movies and TV shows online that were bought in physical form in its stores.
