Humana's Provider Quality Rewards Program Distributes Nearly $20 Million to Primary Care Physicians Across the U.S.
Physicians in program met or exceeded quality benchmarks in 2011
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Humana Inc. (NYS: HUM) , one of the nation's leading health and well-being companies, distributed nearly $20 million to physicians across the U.S. who participated in the Humana Provider Quality Rewards Program in 2011, the program's second year.
More than 1,000 physician practices received payments from Humana in recognition of outcome and performance improvements made by their practices last year for their patients who are Humana Medicare Advantage health plan members. In 2011, Humana distributed more than $10 million to physician practices across the U.S. under the program for 2010 performance improvement results.

Humana payments to physician practices are based on the practices' quality improvements in nine National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) preventive and chronic-condition management areas. They are:
Breast cancer screening
Glaucoma screening
Colorectal cancer screening
Cholesterol screening
Diabetes management
Osteoporosis medication management
Body Mass Index
Diabetes Treatment Management
Anti-rheumatic drugs for patients with rheumatoid arthritis
