OSHA Recognizes Cintas' Reno Distribution Center with Highest Safety Designation

First distribution center company-wide to receive such honor

SPARKS, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cintas Corporation (NAS: CTAS) today announced that its Reno Distribution Center located in nearby Sparks, NV has received Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star certification from the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), marking another first in the company's safety journey. VPP is OSHA's highest recognition for the practice of, and commitment to exemplary occupational safety and health. Today's distinction is the first for Cintas' network of nine distribution centers located throughout North America.

"It's rare to find a group of people who have worked this tightly together at an initial certification," said Jess Lankford, Program Coordinator for Nevada OSHA. "I think that's indicative of their desire to pass the STAR requirements but also of senior management to support their desire to achieve that."

Cintas' Reno Distribution Center began the VPP process more than a year ago. In order to achieve Star distinction, the facility and its approximately 40 employee-partners committed to an environment of continuous safety improvement while undergoing rigorous audits and collaboration at all levels. The facility celebrated the honor during a flag raising ceremony and luncheon held today and attended by numerous Cintas executives, community dignitaries and OSHA representatives.

"Safety is a total team effort and the level of engagement here in Reno is outstanding," said Nick Buckelew, General Manager. "You've taken ownership of the safety program and I'm very proud of your hard work to make safety a core value. Today's celebration is all about you."

With this honor, the Reno Distribution Center becomes the ninth facility company-wide to receive VPP designation. Cintas Corporation has approximately 290 facilities throughout the world actively pursuing VPP recognition by OSHA or the equivalent under a similar certifying body. This includes operations in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Honduras.
