Snowshoe Announces Best Snow Guarantee, Expanded Ski Terrain & New Village Zipline
Resort Guarantees Most Skiable Acres Open in the Southeast
SNOWSHOE, W. Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Snowshoe Mountain Resort (www.snowshoemtn.com), the #1 ski area in the Southeast, today announced its promise to deliver the most terrain open in the region by detailing its new Snow Guarantee: If Snowshoe Mountain cannot offer the most skiable terrain open compared to all other mountains in the region then your next day of skiing is free. The Southeast region includes 15 ski areas in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.
"At 4,848' in elevation, Snowshoe sits perched atop one of the highest counties east of the Mississippi," says director of marketing, Dave Dekema. "When you combine that with our total commitment to offering the best snowmaking and grooming imaginable, we are confident in guaranteeing our snow conditions regardless of what Mother Nature throws our way."
Snowshoe has bolstered its snowmaking capabilities this summer by adding or upgrading over 5,000 feet of snowmaking pipe. Even with 180+ inches of natural snowfall per year, the investment improves Snowshoe's efficiency in delivering 100% snow coverage on its mountain.
More On-Mountain Improvements
With a 1,500 foot vertical drop, there's no shortage of challenging runs at Snowshoe. The most dramatic options are in the Western Territory -- the black diamond trails, Cupp Run and Shays Run. Advanced skiers and snowboarders at Snowshoe are well served.
Recent guest feedback has highlighted the opportunities for more intermediate terrain, and new terrain options such as glades and smaller, family friendly freestyle features.
In response, Spruce Glades Terrain Park will be relocated this season, allowing the transformation of Spruce trail back into an excellent intermediate run. Spruce Glades Park will be moved over to the trail Choker, and will continue to offer medium & large features and rails. This terrain park will be spectator friendly directly from the lift.
In addition, Snowshoe has "gladed" seven acres of woods adjacent to the trail, Knot Bumper, for accessible skiing between the trees. Glade skiing offers defined entry and exit routes to wooded areas, and clears deadfall, and paths for fun turns in the forest. The new glade is the first of a series of expansions of the woods within the boundaries of the Snowshoe ski mountain.
Finally, a 4th freestyle park, called Skillbuilder Park, will be added on a section of Cubb Run at Silver Creek. This park will feature more family-friendly beginner snow features for skill building and practice.
Snowshoe is scheduled to open for the 2012-13 winter ski and snowboard season on Saturday, December 8th—earlier if conditions permit.
New Village Zipline
Off the snow, the resort is opening a small zipline in the air above its walking village this winter, giving thrill seekers an opportunity to pump their adrenaline on and off the slopes. This short zip ride is a precursor to a much bigger, multi- zipline tour that is anticipated to open in summer 2013.
Best Early Offer: The 4-for-4 Deal
Snowshoe announced its best early offer for the upcoming 2012-2013 winter season. Dubbed the "4-for-4", the deal is this: Buy 4 nights lodging with lift tickets at Snowshoe, and get 4 free nights valid through the end of the season. This offer must be booked by October 31, 2012.
"The 4-for-4 deal rewards savvy planners for locking in their first ski & snowboard trip early," explains Dekema. "Clearly it gives the best incentive to come back for more winter fun later in the season."
Guests who take advantage of the deal may use the four free nights for a single long getaway, or spread them over a couple of short trips. Return stays are in lodging units of equal value as the first stay purchased. Some restrictions and holiday blackouts apply.
