AVG's Innovation Center in Amsterdam Marks First Anniversary

- Center of expertise into evolving technologies and consumer behavior provides insights to AVG Research & Development teams -

AMSTERDAM & SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- AVG Technologies (NYS: AVG) , the provider of Internet and mobile security to approximately 128 million active users, celebrates the first year milestone for its AVG Innovation Center located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During this twelve month period, the Innovation Center contributed to major product developments including AVG's unique privacy control feature, AVG Do Not Track, launched in April this year.

The Innovation Center was set up one year ago to act as a hub of expertise, researching the rapidly changing technology landscape on people's internet behaviors and consequently the impact on their online security. Increased PC penetration rates and the rapid uptake of smart mobile devices over the last few years have driven a cultural shift from using technology mainly for productivity to increasingly being an everyday part of life. AVG's innovation ethos is based on researching, understanding and predicting these trends, which is vital to ensure AVG continues to deliver the best in online security protection and performance.

JR Smith, CEO of AVG Technologies, said, "The AVG Innovation Center team has already proven to be a major strategic asset to AVG and we are continuing to invest in its capabilities to ensure we offer products that give our 128 million active users the peace of mind to enjoy the digital world through their PCs and smartphones. Our Do Not Track feature was an industry first, and the Center's research was at the heart of this development after analyzing how closely linked personal online security and privacy are in today's connected environment."

AVG Innovation Center integrates closely with other staff from AVG's various business units across the world. By combining R&D with an incubator function, the Center keeps a finger on the pulse of developments to identify rapidly and analyze new insights which will impact on online security and productivity, such as the escalating uptake of smartphones and tablets.

Shaul Levi, AVG Chief Scientist at the Innovation Center, adds: "We are proud of the advanced technologies being developed at our center in Amsterdam. Cooperating with the other AVG development centers around the world enables us to deliver cutting edge products utilizing innovative technologies. We are looking forward to another busy twelve months with several research projects already in the pipeline."
