U.S. Bank Sponsors Asian Small Business Expo in Alhambra, Calif.

ALHAMBRA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- U.S. Bank is title sponsor of the 13th Annual Asian Small Business Expo, which takes place on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Almansor Court Banquet and Conference Center, 700 S. Almansor Street in Alhambra, Calif. The expo is hosted by the Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program (API SBP).

Hundreds of business owners will hear stories of success and lessons learned from their peers, including the state of small business financing from local lenders. Ann Liu, manger of the U.S. Bank office at Hacienda Heights, will discuss access to capital in a presentation that begins at 10 a.m. Liu has had deep experience working with Asian business owners since she started with U.S. Bank in 2004.


"The Asian population continues to be concentrated in the west and has grown more than 45 percent in the last 10 years," Liu said. "U.S. Bank is focused on serving the Asian community in our market by putting the strength and expertise of our team to work for small businesses."

Formed in 1999, API SBP is a collaborative of five community organizations: the Chinatown Service Center, Koreatown Youth & Community Center, Little Tokyo Service Center CDC, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans and Thai Community Development Center.

In addition to its role as a title sponsor of the small business expo for several years, U.S. Bank supports the Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program with grant funding. U.S. Bank provided more than $2.4 million in local charitable contributions to Los Angeles area nonprofits and employees devoted more than 1,600 volunteer hours in the area in 2011. In addition, small business lending at U.S. Bank in Los Angeles is up 27 percent in the second quarter of 2012 compared with the same period last year.
