Free Webinar about Secure Payment Processing on Thursday, September 20

Webinar will highlight the payment processing best practices of the City of Indianapolis and Marion County

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Center for Digital Government and Digital Communities in partnership with NIC and the City of Indianapolis and Marion County will present a free webinar at 2 p.m., EDT, Thurs., September 20 about PCI compliance and secure payment processing. The webinar will highlight the partnership between Local Government Online Indiana, an NIC affiliate, and the City of Indianapolis and Marion County and will discuss the importance of ensuring government agencies meet certain security and compliance standards when processing electronic payments.

The City of Indianapolis and Marion County process approximately 50,000 credit card payments monthly through their online eCommerce Portal, IndyGov.biz, operated by LoGO Indiana. In addition to these transactions, tens of thousands of monthly account holder transactions are also processed through the use of the online services. "Partnering with NIC and LoGO Indiana has allowed the City of Indianapolis and Marion County to offset the responsibility of dealing with electronic payment security issues at no cost to the City," Rick Petrecca, City of Indianapolis.

The purpose of the Webinar presented by the Center for Digital Government and Digital Communities is to provide important information to government entities that are currently processing electronic payments, or might be processing these types of payments in the near future.

"In order to understand the ever-changing landscape of electronic payment processing and the stringent requirements needed to safeguard customer payments, government entities should educate themselves in order to ensure they are doing all they can to protect constituent payment related information," said Mukesh Patel, President of NIC Services.
