Ban on Sale of Samsung Tablet Continues

The judge who imposed a temporary ban on Samsung Electronics selling Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computers in the U.S. this week turned down Samsung's request to lift the ban, Bloomberg reports today. Part of the judge's reasoning for keeping the ban in place is that Samsung's appeal of the ban has removed jurisdiction from her.

The judge imposed the ban in June, when a jury's decision regarding patent infringement claims from Apple (NAS: AAPL) hung in the balance. The jury on Aug. 24 awarded Apple $1.05 billion and found that Samsung had infringed on six Apple patents. However, the judge's ruling this week notes that the jury found Samsung had not infringed on the patent that was the basis of the June injunction.

Apple also has a Dec. 6 hearing set to ask the judge to permanently ban U.S. sales on eight separate Samsung smartphone models.
