Xerox and HealthPlan Services Team Up to Keep Health Insurance Exchanges Simple for Insurers, Members
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Xerox (NYS: XRX) is helping health insurance carriers prepare to participate in Health Insurance Exchanges (HIXs), making it easier for the nearly 25 million new members that will be using these online portals to comparison shop for health plans within the next 10 years. Xerox and HealthPlan Services (HPS), the nation's leading services and technology provider for the insurance and managed care markets, will help insurers quickly get enrolled in HIXs and simplify participation for new and existing members.
"The Affordable Care Act presents an opportunity for members to make an informed decision regarding their healthcare, and for health plans to grow membership as never before," said Jeff Hechemy, group president, Xerox Services Healthcare Payer and Pharma. "Xerox and HPS have come up with a compliant, secure service that lets carriers act quickly while keeping the HIX process simple and attractive for members to use by 2014."
Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), each state will create their HIX with unique rules to enter and participate. Using the combined Xerox and HPS service, carriers can quickly and easily comply with each set of rules and participate in any state exchange without having to build individual systems. HPS offers Go-To-Exchange™, an integrated, end-to-end solution that meets insurers' technical and administrative demands of participating in multiple state exchanges. Xerox will help members navigate the online portal and will answer plan-related questions by providing customer care and communication services.
"The potential for carriers to grow plan membership via HIXs is tremendous, but unpredictable open enrollment volumes and rapid ramp-up requirements make it difficult for them to determine the resources needed to consistently deliver a quality experience," said Jeff Bak, president and CEO, HPS. "By aligning our resources with Xerox, we're allowing carriers to scale resources in response to demand fluctuations - making them better prepared to capture and keep members with a simple, personal customer experience."
Xerox is also helping state governments and employers prepare for HIXs with specific services that can be customized to meet the needs of residents, small business and large corporations. The company was recently awarded an exchange in Nevada and also announced a partnership to build Florida's insurance marketplace.
Xerox's Healthcare Payer and Pharma services support the top 20 largest U.S. health plans, touching nearly two-thirds of the U.S. insured population. The company has been a leader in the customer care industry for more than 20 years. With more than 46,000 agents in 175 customer care centers around the world, Xerox employees handle in excess of one million customer interactions every day in 30 different languages.
