Unilever Named as Working Mother 100 Best Company

For Leadership on Creating Family-Friendly Policy & Culture

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Working Mother, a magazine focused on parenting and women's issues, today named Unilever as one of the 2012 Working Mother 100 Best Companies for its commitment to progressive workplace programs, including child care, flexibility, advancement and paid family leave.

Unilever was among several top tier U.S. employers who were awarded recognition. The companies are recognized in the October/November issue of the magazine, on workingmother.com and will be honored at the Work Life Congress, to be held in New York on October 8th. This is the first year Unilever has received this award.

"We are honored to be named to this prestigious list. We recognize the challenge that our female leaders face: being the 'best mom in the world' as well as a great career professional without compromising either responsibility," said Sumeet Salwan, Unilever's Vice President, Human Resources, Unilever North America. "It is our job to create a workplace of choice for our employees and to celebrate role models who can inspire the next generation of leaders - those who can successfully manage both their personal and professional lives rolled into one."

Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media, said, "This year's 100 Best Companies are leading the way for the rest of the nation. They have created not only essential benefits, like flexible work options and telecommuting, but have also shown their commitment in new ways like elder care referral and legal assistance to help busy parents manage their personal lives as well as their careers."

Jennifer Owens, editorial director of Working Mother Media, stated, "These Best Companies know what it takes to keep all employees, but especially their employee moms, productive and engaged at work. As the stress surrounding work-life integration continues to rise, so does the opportunity for creating a win-win environment for employees and employers. The Working Mother 100 Best Companies see the payoff from their programs and policies and are outstanding examples for companies to emulate."
